The Association exists to safeguard the common interests of its members and to pursue the redressal of their legitimate grievances in matters of pay, promotion, prospects, status, service conditions and retirement benefits.

Results declared
The poll for the Tamil Nadu & Puducherry Unit was held on 18 August 2026 and the votes were counted on 22 August 2026. The Office Bearers and the Executive Committee for the term 2026–28 have been declared.
Comrade M. Veerabhagu has been elected President and Comrade M. Dhinesh Kumar General Secretary of the Unit.
Article 3 of the Constitution
Aims and objects
To foster a spirit of co-operation and esprit de corps among members.
To promote and safeguard the common interest of all members of the Association.
To move for the redressal of legitimate grievances on pay, promotion, prospects, status, service conditions and retirement benefits.
To work in co-ordination with similar service associations wherever necessary.
Not to represent interests on the basis of any caste, tribe or religious denomination.
Generally, to do all acts incidental or conducive to the attainment of the above objects.

Membership
Who can join
Eligibility
Any promotee Gazetted Officer of the Income Tax Department who is not a member of any other service association is eligible for membership. A promotee Gazetted Officer means an officer promoted from a non-gazetted post to a Gazetted post in the Department.
Admission
An eligible officer applies in the prescribed proforma annexed to the Constitution, addressed to the General Secretary of the Unit, and is admitted as a member. On transfer to another region, membership continues in the Unit to which the officer is transferred.
